My first review. I was so taken on how bad this show is... with 8 Tony awards!... I had to do this. The 1/2 stars comes from the good mood they put you in. You go on stage before the performance and listen to some songs. Then it starts. Music okay with average singing. The accents of one main Irish character... not understandable. The accent of the lead woman. Very weird. Jokes, not even the corny level. No orchestra. No special effects. No stage crew. No change of scenery. This was a low budget production that somehow struck it rich. It has very little to offer.
I saw Once on 4/16/14. This is a show that you just keep waiting to get better....but it never does. I think you go to a show to walk out feeling "up", from the music. This show never has that "up" moment.
I would not recommend this to anyone. It's just to much of a snoozer.
