I saw a preview of Burn the Floor the other night and loved it. The dancing is modern sexy and edgy and is set to great live music with two singers and drum kit on stage. ITS A PARTY WITH GREAT DANCING SO DONT MISS IT. The dancing it is first class with very sexy dancers from all around the world who amaze the crowd with their talents.
Opening night was huge fun. There's no hoky storyline to interfere with a high energy evening of virtuoso ballroom-style dance. The cast is very attractive and incredibly proficient. There is something about live dance that is really exciting and which doesn't fully come across on TV. If you have any interest in the dance-related TV shows, or have ever taken ballroom lessons, you'll recognize at least two of the elements that make this worthy as a Broadway show: There's no down time, and every dance is performed superbly. Very enjoyable!
I saw this show July 25, 2009 and have to say "IF YOU LIKE DANCE, RUN AND GET TICKETS BEFORE THEY'RE SOLD OUT FOR EVERY PERFORMANCE".
The choreography is edgy and exciting, the dancers magnificent in their execution.
At the end of the show, the entire audience was on its feet resulting in at least 8 curtain calls (I stopped counting).
Can't wait to see it again.
I saw this show in Vegas over a year ago, and I thought it was OK. If you love ballroom dancing, you'll probably love this show. It really was just a collection of different people performing ballroom dances, although they tried to make them "energizing".
In my opinion, there is a limit to how exciting ballroom dancing can be. The costumes, lighting, and music were relatively well done, but unless you're a big fan of ballroom dancing, you should probably avoid this show.
