Wicked tells "the untold story" of the wicked witch in The Wizard of Oz. It was a very high-budget production. The theatre was quite large, and the sets were very elaborate.
There was at least one song that was really outstanding (the one right before the intermission). Otherwise, the songs were pretty good.
The best part about the show was the story. I hadn't read the book, but I was familiar with The Wizard of Oz story. I was very impressed with how they managed to create this entire back story for the "wicked" witch. After watching Wicked, I started to see Wicked as the "real" story, and the wizard of oz as being a very one-sided story.
The musical was so clever that it almost made me feel manipulated by the original Wizard of Oz story. What an excellent show!
As of the time of writing, Wicked sells out every show. I have never seen it at a half price booth. However, this is one of the few shows that it's worth paying full price for.
OK, I have seen it on Broadway four times. What can you say. Great show. Great sets. Great Story. It is just a well done lavish production that has marvelous characters and a great plot. I like the way Schwartz tell the story versus the very dark book. Amazing thing is that Avenue Q won best musical. Another great show, but not a classic like Wicked.
Wicked was AMAZING!! i would go see it again in a heartbeat!! The cast was incredible and absolutely fell in love with the music. It is definitely the musical of the decade, hands down and I don't see how any show could beat it! I highly recommend for everyone to see Wicked!!
What an amazing show! The music was fun, the costumes and sets were eye-catching, and the story was captivating. I found myself thinking about the show and analyzing the story several weeks later with the music still playing in my head.
The preferred show of the female teenage set. I can absolutely guarantee that your 16 year old daughters will love this show. Big, colorful production that's been playing for 8 years. Have seen it twice and both times noticed performances being "mailed in". Great show to bring your auntie from Peoria and her daughters to.
I had a great time seeing Wicked. It's just a really fun show! Most of the music is OK, but some songs are great. The story tells the "real" story about the Wizard of Oz. I was impressed how they were able to use so many "facts" from the wizard of oz, and weave them into this new story in a way that makes sense and is so convincing. Seeing this show is almost like a a psychology lesson in how the wizard of oz movie only gave you one side of the story. If you're not familiar with the wizard of oz story, you may not appreciate Wicked as much, but it's still an enjoyable, high-budget musical.
Family entertainment at its best. It has been called the "thinking man's Disney," and I feel the show fully lives up to that. Clean, but not sickly sweet. Intelligent, but not confusing. The songs are crazy catchy and the visual effects are stunning, but more than that, the piece has serious heart, even if it is a bit, well, green.
This is my first time seeing Wicked on Broadway. I saw the touring cast once before in Buffalo, NY. Wicked is such an epic, beautiful show! We got lottery tickets, but I would pay the $126.50! I was tearing up watching it! The vocals are phenomenal, the music is beautiful, the book is witty, the sets and costumes are fantastic, and everything else about this show has made me fall in love! There is a reason that Wicked is the weekly top seller on Broadway!

The writers deserve kudos for their clever way they intertwined the original OZ creating a uniquely new story.
Glitzy production, large cast, lots of energy & dancing. Not hard to see why its always sold out. Enjoyed it but felt it was lacking something.
Extremely large theatre. Sat in the nose bleed section. Probably would have been better off spending the extra dollars for closer seating.
I thought this show was truly amazing! I never read the book but it certainly shows the other side of OZ and how the "wicked" witch got to be who she is (not really wicked at all but one to feel sorry for). The music was wonderful and the singing was a pure delight. The sets and costumes were outstanding and took my breath away. I'm still tapping my toes............
LOOOOOVE this show. Great twis on a classic story. Hated the book but the show was amazing.
A big Oz fan (I read all Frank Baum's books as a child) as well as the book "Wicked" as an adult, this show delivers. Only rarely would I rate a play or movie as better than the book, but Wicked is that exception. No wonder it's been sold out for years. If you want a play that absorbs your attention start to finish, has you laugh out loud...ties up all the "loose ends" of the Oz stories...ignites your imagination...and subtly broadens your view of how to see the role of media in your life....go see Wicked. However, I would recommend that you pay the extra bucks to get a good seat. The theater is large and I suspect the effects are even better if you are in the orchestra, or balcony, at least. (I was about 6 seats from the ceiling, unfortunately.)
By far the best musical on Broadway.
One of the best shows you'll see.
i don' tliek broadway shows that much. Though this was freakin awesome..
The book is much better!
this show started my love of musical theatre and made me believe in magic again I read the book after the 3d time I saw it and all I have to say is the love (in both the book and musical) between Yero and Fae is amazing! And the fact that Norbert Leo Butz was originally him wow he is my hero after everything he's been through he still does his job and does it AMAZINGLY! I love him and the musical and the book also Gegory Maguire and I will love it forever!!! -I💚BROADWAY-
